Fashion Scout Daily Content Ideas

When I was brought on as an intern for Fashion Scout Daily, my main job was helping curate content to share via Twitter (another girl had Facebook). One day I was searching the web for unique ideas to help keep this content fresh and I came across this article from Forbes. It was like finding a gold mine. Now, whenever I am at a loss for content I go to this article and before I know it I have pages and pages of ideas. It has been such a lifesaver!

One thing I tried and do when I was creating content for Fashion Scout Daily’s social pages was keep our audience informed and entertained. This is how I tried and do it…

  1. Women’s Wear Daily- This daily industry magazine is the place to go for breaking news. I tend to scan this and share anything that our target market would find interesting.

  2. Vogue.com/fashion-shows- This website is especially helpful during New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks. I can click on any show that I want in any city and it feels as if I am in the front row. It’s a great way to see what trends are popular on the runway.

  3. Top Fashion Bloggers- I love sharing bloggers' street style looks that I have found with our followers. A simple “This is the one and only way we are wearing our midi skirt this spring. Thanks @bloggersname” accompanied by a photo. This gets the audience talking and keeps them up on trends.

  4. Our Blog- Sharing our blog content on social media is a great way to keep our followers informed about what’s going on at Fashion Scout Daily.

  5. Seasonal Pinterest Board- Who doesn’t love a good Pinterest board? We create one for every season and fill it with the top trends. It is an easy way for our followers to get a feel for what we are going to be wearing.

  6. App Content- Even though is not always good to send out a ton of promotional tweets, I try not to make it sound like I am marketing to our followers. We use Polyvore images to help style the app’s daily products and give our followers tips on how to style them.

  7. Cross Promote Social Channels- This is such an easy way to gain followers that may follow you on Facebook but not on Twitter.

  8. “Ask Our Bloggers”- Hosting a social party in which followers ask our bloggers about styling tips is a great way for customers to engage with our company.

  9. Contests- I am still new to the social media contest scene but I do know that a good contest with a great prize is always incentive for followers to interact with the company. Promoting the contest on all social channels as well as our blog reaches lots of people and gets the word out quickly.

  10.  Online Versions of a Magazine- Going to the website of Marie Claire or Elle magazine helps me see what topics and articles are popular at the moment and how the audience is responding to them.

  11.  Fashion Quotes/Humor- Everyone loves a good GIF, meme, or eye-catching image.

  12.  Celebrity Fashion Looks- During award season last month there was never a lack of great red carpet style. I often shared our favorite looks with our followers.

  13.  Sale Alerts- I follow lots of major brands on social media as well as get their emails. Whenever I am informed about a great sale or promotion I go straight to Twitter and spread the word.

  14.  Specific Daily Hashtags- I can share products that I love via social media with fun hashtags such as #ShoesDay (Tuesday) or #SaturdaySplurge.

  15.  Refinery29 Social Accounts- One thing I found helps me gather content is to see what our competition is posting to their social media channels. I have gotten many ideas from companies such as Refinery29
